The modern house and the country style cottage are located in the Valley Skorradalur by the Lake Skorradalsvatn. With a Wide panorama view overlooking the lake and the beautiful mountains. Distance between the lodges is wide to secure individual space and privacy.

Valley Skorradalur

Skorradalur is outside of the main traffic but only a short way from the main routes and towns. Town Borganes is only 20 min away by car and there can you find shops  and various recreational possibilities, such as thermal swimming pool, golf-courses, steam and lake angling and horse –rentals. Skorradalur is 28 km long narrow valley with several farms and summer houses. Widespread birch growth and extensive forest. was a fjord by the end of the last glaciation, and some of the highest Lateglacial raised beaches in Iceland occur where the valley opens into the larger Borgarfjörður valley. The best exposure is at Stóri Sandhóll, which is a marine terrace reaching 150 m. It is a key location for understanding the dynamics of the last deglaciation of Iceland, illustrating very rapid ice retreat and isostatic rebound.

Lake Skorradalsvatn

Skorradalsvatn has an area of a 14,7 km2. The Lake is 16 km long and mostly 1 km wide. Its greates depth is 48 m and its surface lies 57 m above sea level. The river Fitjaá feeds it and its discharge in river Andakilsá.

Fishing in Skorradalsvatn

Lake char is abundant, most of it about 2 pound. Every summer a few very large lake chars about 17 pounds and trout about 14 pounds are caught. The are mostly caugt in the deepest areas from boats with spinners. The bait: Fly, spoon and worm.

Distance from Reykjavik capital

The distance from capital is about 92 km but you can take shorter way through the Whale Bay tunnel.

Time of hire and prices

Our houses are rented out for one week at a time, Guests are welcome after 4 p.m on the first dey and must vacate the house no later than 11 a.m on the final day. Change over are on Thursdays. In the event of deviation from this rule, the office of Icelandic Summer Houses must be contacted in time to get permission for such an exemption.

Season A: 31.05. 2010 - 29.08. 2010 Euro 1200.- per week

Season B: 01.01. 2010 - 30.05. 2010 and 30.08. 2010 - 31.12. 2010 Euro 850.- per week

Guests are supposed to leave the house cleaned on departure. Bed linen, towels and cleaning on departure day can be obtained, at additional cost Euro 300.-

Pets are not allowed in the houses. Please note that smoking is not allowed in any of our houses. The houses are privately owned and are furnished with care and according to personal taste.
